The Industrial Battleboard is de facto the first actual complete table I’ve made. Started as a concrete slabs experiment, i decided to fill a full table with cracked tiles, both to have a flat but detailed surface to play and to finally use the advantages of the tiles while playing Round of Fire.
The original tiles have been individually carved, then cast several times until covering the whole surface. Four 30×30 square MDF were then used as base.
The cast plaster was then sealed with matte spray, then painted. First a layer of shades were applied with an airbrush, followed by a series of light washes. The gaps between the tiles made the process quite tricky, sometimes absorbing in their cavities large quantities of paint.
The painted tiles then were detailed with low vegetation and a few tufts.
That’s the resulting table. It has been used mostly for 15mm sci-fi games, but the contrasts and fine details made it an excellent background for photoshootings too.
Some more shots and close-ups:
As said above, although the board is a unique piece jealously kept in my keep, i have digitalized it and it’s now available on Wargame Vault!
